Hotlinking is the direct linking of images from someone else to your site. In other words, bandwidth theft. If you look at the images on this forum, the background, the gradients, banner, etc. they all are hosted by me on a server in which I PAY for. So when you take images without permission (it is OK to save them and host them yourself) you are actually stealing from me. Now what about the minibanner? Is that stealing too? No and here's why. I give permission for you to use my minibanner (even if you aren't an affiliate). Now why would I do that? Well, it is the forum's way of advertising! I don't care if you even want to host it yourself but on doing so, if I update the banner, the one on your site won't get updated! Hotlinking IS theft! Please do not steal my bandwidth! If you ask me, I may (keyword: may!) let you directly link to my images, but you must ask first! Anyone who is linking anything other than my minibanner on their forum or site will be shut down. Or you may fall victim to the popular "switch-it" prank by webmasters! Thank you for saving my bandwidth for my sites!
